Acid reflux in 6 year old

My 6 year old DD has begun recently (last couple of weeks) complaining about being sick in her mouth. It happens multiple times a day. She says it sometimes makes her throat sore. She also says sometimes she finds it hard to swallow mouthfuls of food.
I rang the doctor and the lady who answered said it sounds like acid reflux and the doctor would ring me back. He rang back and was a bit woolly. He ummed and aahed and said give her milk and yoghurt and ring back if no better in 2 weeks.
She doesnt particularly like milk so has a little on cereal. She does eat yoghurts and cheese though.
She is not overweight (just on the lighter side of average bmi), she doesnt overeat and is never asked to have 'one more bite'. The doctor did mutter something about gaviscon but didnt go into detail or tell me how much to give her. He just said buy some from the chemist. Which im fine about but the doseage for a 6 year old isnt on the bottle!!
Does anyone have advice for helping her. She doesnt seem in a lot of pain but its not pleasant for her!!

Worth trying the Gaviscon (link to dosage above). If things settle, fantastic. If not, the usual treatment is 3 months of omeprazole (an anti acid) which lets the gullet heal up, and only investigate further if that doesn't permanently fix things.

My dd had this and was prescribed ranatadine. I know there have been some cargenegenic concerns but the one she has was not linked and sorted her out within 6 weeks. We have it on repeat if needed. She was just shy of her 5th birthday when it was prescribed

That link is amazing. Thank you! Ill do as the doc says and give it a couple of weeks to see if things settle. Fingers crossed the gaviscon works but both of you have put my mind at rest.

My DD had this and we tried anti reflux medication for two months with no real change. The GP ordered a blood test that suggested coeliac disease and she was later diagnosed properly by the hospital just before her sixth birthday. The only symptoms were her saying she felt sick coming up her throat once or twice a day.
