Splinter hemorrhage, toe nail, still there after 6 years

My DD dropped a plate on her big toe when she was 18 months old. The nail bled, but healed, with splinter hemorrhages in the nail bed. That became her new normal, and makes nail clipping a delicate art. She's now 7 years old. Whenever she stubs her toe it bleeds impressively. Should I be concerned that the splinter haemorrage is a permanent feature for that toe? Google says it's supposed to heal, but hers hasn't. She's in excellent health otherwise.

My granny had a damaged big toenail from when my uncle (as a toddler) dropped something heavy on her foot. It was as you described and it must have been around 50 years later.
