DS has always had fluffy white body hair but in the past year or so I've noticed the hairs on his arms are extremely long - longer than my body hair. I was wondering if this is anything to be concerned about and has any genetic links. He's under CAHMS for SEN awaiting diagnosis if that's of any relevance. Will post a pic soon as I can get one.

I would see GP just to put your mind at rest. If a blood test etc. is needed they will do it.

Thank you @justasking111

Possibly consider a GP visit as that is quite excessive for a 7 year old. My cousin had the same , he could practically plait it. It turned out he had high hormone count so had to go on meds for a few years but everything is ok

anxietrist · 25/04/2020 15:10

Thanks @GaaaaarlicBread I'll do that. Do you know if your cousin had any other symptoms?

Sorry for the delay @anxietrist . From what I know , that was his only symptom but he has autism and other special needs, which I’ve just noticed you mentioned SEN in your OP . Not sure if theres a connection ? But because of that he won’t often say if he has anything wrong etc as he can’t address it. My auntie just noticed he was very hairy . I can’t remember the name of the medication he took, I’ll have to find out for you x

Thanks @GaaaaarlicBread that's interesting. DS possibly has autism but is part way through diagnosis (now delayed)

How thin is he? My DSD was like a little hairy monkey( bless her) until she hit puberty- it was all up her spine and arms/shoulders. She was tiny for her age and very skinny but no underlying health issues. When she hit puberty she filled out and although still technically underweight( just) she looks much healthier, eats like a horse and all the hair has gone.

Gp for sure. Likely hormonal.

anxietrist · 25/04/2020 20:27

He's slim but I don't think he's underweight. I'll check his weight tomorrow. He was wearing age 5-6 shorts today but then he's not particularly tall. He eats well and is active.
