Redness around Graze on hand

Missmiller · 24/04/2020 08:02

Hi
my daughter fell off her scooter at about 6:30pm last night. She grazed her hand. I cleaned it with warm water and cotton wool, put savlon on it. Anyway, this morning, it is really red and I am worried this is a sign of infection. Obviously it’s Friday and I don’t want to leave it over weekend if she requires anything to treat it.
Is this a normal looking graze or should I contact GP for advice?
Thanks

Advice given was correct for the most part!

Well yes, apart from you @midnightstar66 who actually gave some really dodgy advice presented as fact, eg 'it looks perfectly normal for not'. Sorry but it actually really pisses me of when people answer on threads such as these as if they know what they're talking about when they do not - might be well meaning but it's so irresponsible.

I’m seriously grateful for everyone’s input, some trying to offer reassurance and some sound advice. Here’s how bad it got this afternoon (first photo) FYI but it is calming now i think (2nd photo). Black pen was for me to keep an eye on it spreading

Ds has cellulitis and it developed really quickly. His was a cut on his head that had been steri stripped at hospital and when a nurse client of dh’s saw it the next day she was horrified and told us to go to walk in ASAP. Walk in failed to diagnose and it nearly became a hospital admission.

For future reference, don’t use savlon. That could have caused or made the infection worse.

Had even.

Glad it’s on the mend, hope she’s feeling better today!
