Strengthen babies muscles

Hi everyone I took my son for his 8 week check.everythkng was fine apart from the doctor commented on how he couldn’t lift his head from a lying down position on his tummy. However when sat up or out on my shoulder he is able to mostly hold the weight of his head upright. I’ve been doing tummy time with him and have a tummy time roll. However my boy seems more interested in chewing his sleeves, hands , or the roll. Is there anything I can do to strengthen these muscles. I’ve tried musical toys infront of him etc but he doesn’t seem interested . Thanks in advance

He s only little. Just put him on his tummy every time you change him for a few minutes. He will gradually get stronger. If he isnt sitting up by himself by 8 or 9 months see a physio.

My DD was never interested in tummy time either and would just eat the carpet. She never rolled either until she needed to when she learnt to crawl. She did have good head control early on though.
He's still little though and there's plenty of time.

DS had excellent head control from birth (midwives and HV all commented on it in a 'he really shouldn't be able to do that' way) but he was probably 3 months - at least - before he did it during tummy time. There's a lot of things DS can do but most of which he just chooses not to do. I sense a lifetime of this ahead of me. I wouldn't worry too much yet.

My dd was a tummy time refuser and so were several other babies I knew at the time. Your ds is still so tiny, I definitely wouldn't worry about it. They do things at their own pace.

Did cave people make their cave babies do tummy time?? I doubt it but the cave children didn't grow up never holding up their heads. If you see what I mean.
I think I need to go to bed..

My DS hated 'tummy time'. The more I tried the more he refused. He got there in the end (is 13 now and very sporty - nothing wrong with his physical development).
