Fever after injections

Hi everyone. My daughter had her 8 week injections today and has been asleep pretty much all day. I’ve read that a fever normally starts 6 hours after her injections she’s had two lots of calpol today and her head temp is around 37.3 but the back is 39 and above and she feels burning to touch I have stripped her down. Should I be concerned that her back temperature is that high or should I go by her head and ear temperature

Mines was like this but fine after a few days. Took her these days and she pretty much slept and knocked half her feeds off.

When did she last have calpol?

Yes to stripping right off!

@ohnoherewego62

She last had calpol two hours ago and had the previous dose six hours before. It’s just her back temperature that was concerning me as it was so high but her head isn’t too alarming

I would tend to stick with the one temperature reading for observation purposes. You're more likely to get an accurate recording.

So either ear or armpit etc I went with an under the armpit thermometer and stuck with that. How does she seem in herself?

Its horrible when they're so little. If you're really concerned, then give out of hours a phone! High temp can be really common in little ones after their immunisations.

@Ohnoherewego62
Her ear reading is 37.2
She’s been asleep most of the day. Woke up and is grizzly but not overly grizzly. I’ll keep an eye on her thank you so much for your help. She’s just had most of her bottle so she’s still feeding

That's great. Mines made a little mowing noise the whole day. Poor things leg looked sore but cold winter night and stripped down brought her temp down.

Honestly we always have something to worry about 😂😂

Glad to hear she's settled and feeding! Remember to always phone if concerned. They dont mind especially with tiny babies.

Remember it may happen with next jabs too. Mines was fine with 12 week ones but bad with 16 week one. Didnt feed properly for 4/5 days and slept a lot. Health visitor was great though! Best of luck Smile

Check your ear thermometer is suitable for her age. Ours is only for 3m+
