Is lansoprazole better than omeprazole?

My daughter has CMPA and is on Nutramigen and carobel. She was fine with this until 12 weeks old when she started to wheeze a lot. GP said that the acid reflux seems to still be coming up part way which must be painful. She prescribed omeprazole but it actually makes my daughter vomit so we’re getting lansoprazole. Is it any better?

Neither one is necessarily better than the other, they're from the same drug class but work slightly differently so have different side effects in different people.

I’ve taken both, and had a horrible reaction to omeprazole but lansoprazole worked wonders!

My daughter’s now had both and they both made her vomit horrendously so have to search for an alternative

Does she have a thickener in her feed? Carobel/ gaviscon? There is no alternative at the moment to my knowledge, ranitidine is still off the shelf.

Yea she has carobel. I’ve just bought her a cot wedge to prop her up at night and that seems to be helping a bit

Daughter was on Ranitidine and when it was withdrawn she had Tagamet Syrup (Cimetidine) seems to be working.

One and the same - I moved to the former as a vegan alternative

Hello Mummies.

My Daughter recently started lansoprazole (4th day now) during the night horrendous stomach cramps, crying, wanting to take her bottle but in pain then we had the most explosive nappy ever...all up her back.

Is this normal ? Please advise a worried Mummy.

Thank you.
