How to give Sytron

Hi, I’m a first time mum to a 3 week preemie (born at 32 weeks) he has been prescribed abided and sytron. The abidec I was shown how to give at the hospital. But he starts the sytron next week. I know how much to give him. But he takes the abidec from the syringe. The sytron syringe has a big plunger on the end. Can I mix it with milk? Do I give it on a spoon, is that safe.? I was meant to have a lot of support after the birth because of my mental health. But obviously with the current situation everything is now no contact and we were out of scbu as soo. As was safe. He was so early we didn’t have time to set up a proper mental health plan either. I am coping fairly well currently, but anxious about things like this and don’t have my mum or health visitor to turn to as was planned

Hi OP, the instructions are usually: -
How should I give it?
^Do not give the medicine with a milk feed.
Liquid medicine: Measure out the right amount an oral syringe or medicine spoon.^
I would think it will be easier with a syringe. Can you use the same one as you have for the abidec?

We used a syringe.

Thank you. It won’t fit in the abidec syringe but I think I have one from when I was trying to express at the hospital

Is the dose 1 ml? That should fit in the abidec syringe. You can also mix with milk and give with a milk feed. I would think giving on a spoon would be difficult at this age (I have just started giving it on a spoon to my 4 month old corrected, ex 33 weeker).
