Toddler poo smells like sick

Apologies for the rather grim subject but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this!

DS is 20 months old. Perfectly normal, high energy, growing nicely etc. But I have noticed that his poo often smells lkind of like sick / Parmesan cheese, particularly towards the end of the day. These poos also seem to cause irritation. Even if I change him immediately his skin is already red and sore. I think these poos are also a bit lighter in colour and less solid than others. He is a highly frequent pooer anyway but he usually has a couple of these poos at the end of the day, which makes me wonder if it’s a reaction to something he is eating during the day. He loves yoghurt so I have been wondering (with no real evidence) whether it is a reaction to dairy - since the smell has that cheese / sick quality.

Ugh. Totally disgusting I know, but does anyone have any experience?

He is happy and otherwise totally healthy or of course I would seek medical advice!

Teething defo. My toddlers smell vomit and sweet like and burn skin.

Oh that’s interesting, teething! It seems to be pretty much every day, but I guess his teeth are moving around and his last baby teeth are coming through. I hadn’t thought of teething.

When DD1 was little, teething would have been the culprit for nappies like this. For DD2, it was when she'd had too much dairy. We replaced regular yoghurt with lactofree and the problem went away.

Yep I was about to say teething too. It was the cause of DS1’s most vile nappies.
