What is happening in regards to children's vaccines at the minute?

Does anyone know what's happening in terms of vaccines for children and babies at the minute?

My 3 year old is due her vaccine next month and my other daughter is also turning 1 next month so will be due her vaccines too.

I'm absolutely petrified about what's going on in the world lately and I'm having panic attacks every few days.
I'm scared what will happen if they don't have their vaccines and I'm also scared if they have their vaccines they might catch something or even have a reaction to the vaccine and they will need medical attention.

Both me and my eldest were in hospital with pneumonia (and the baby was on antibiotics at home) in February which lasted 2 weeks and it's left me PETRIFIED of them catching anything again.

dc had their teen immunisations last week.

tbh those vaccinations are pretty important and I would hope that they keep running almost as usual.

Shit you've just reminded me that I was supposed to ring and make an appointment for my 3 year old. I'm not sure what the rules are now. Definitely ring your gp on Monday and ask for advice. And please also ask for a phone appointment for your anxiety and panic attacks. I did this on Tuesday and am now waiting for a prescription which will hopefully help

What's the procedure about going into the doctors for the jabs? Do the doctors wear masks?
We haven't left our house/garden in 20 days now.

Immunisations still going ahead - the last thing anyone needs is kids coming down with measles etc now.

I work at a surgery and we are running special clinic times when no other pts allowed in, and everyone to be checked that no family’s member ill before entering, and parents asked to not bring all the siblings with them.

we had to wait outside the gp practice and only one person was allowed in with dc. nurse didn't wear a mask.

DS had preschool boosters on Friday afternoon. Nurse rang in the morning to explain how it’d work and check nobody in the house had covid symptoms. We had to wait outside surgery until they were ready for us, then straight in, temperature taken, jabbed and out. No red book to minimise contact. Was very good (poor DS was so taken aback by the whole thing he didn’t flinch or say a word until we were back in the street, when he quietly said, “Mummy, I didn’t like the pokey bit” and burst into tears)

The pneumonia we had in February was AWFUL. Not being able to take care of my children who were so ill them selfs was heartbreaking.
We were on different wards and not able to see each other. It was the worst few weeks of my life. The worst illness of my life and I can't cope with going through it again.

I'll ring Monday morning and ask. We haven't had letters through yet but my 3 year old is 3 years and 4 months the first week of April so i presume it will be through then.

He was absolutely fine! Just surprised at being jabbed because I was doing my best bright and breezy at him. They have put huge amounts of thought into keeping the vaccination programme going. Sounds like you’ve all had a tough start to the year - hope you’re getting some support for your own wellbeing

Hi , this is the first time I have posted on here, just very concerned because today our GP practice phoned my wife to cancel our boys 7 week health check and her postnatal appointment ,I understood from reading the nhs website that these are very important. I am also worried they will do the same next week for his first vaccinations . I am also I suppose a little bit annoyed, I work for the NHS , no change to my work seeing patients high risk wound care patients in their homes , care homes and in clinics without any proper PPE , Why are GPs behind closed doors only doing telephone consultations, not everything can be done this way

Jon - the imms are likely to go ahead as planned. Unless you had any specific health concerns for mum or baby, the appointments are of lesser importance and in the current crisis situation, GPs cannot be business as usual for a number of obvious reasons. It's not remotely about GPs trying to keep themselves safe either - if you work for the NHS you will be aware of the coronavirus home visiting teams being assembled!

Hello, just wondering, for those parents with children born before August 2017, what did you do in regards to Hepatitis B vaccine? It seems this vaccine was not offered to all children before this date.
