Hi my son has been tested for leukemia a few times, it all started when he used to get rash that looked like love bites, they started appearing more often and last year he started getting them more often and then pains in leg joints started and stomache cramps, night sweets. I was wondering if anybody who's child has leukemia had same problems and when rash appears he gets really bad pains? He is now under great ormand street hospital as they thought vasculitis but now they dont think it is that as whites bloods came back abit raised and blood clotting and a tiny tiny bulky spleen, Was hoping so one can help and give advise.

Hi, I had Leukaemia as a child, for a few months before i was diagnosed I was very tired, pale, bruised easily and my arm ached really badly.
Lots of trips to the gp and hospital for blood tests and x ray on my arm.
I was finally diagnosed after emergency surgery for suspected appendicitis where they found my spleen was very enlarged, they then performed a bone marrow and lumber puncher test that confirmed I had Leukaemia.
Is the rash he has like purple little spots ?
I got this kind of rash when my platelets were low and I required a blood transfusion.
Your son is in a great hospital so hopefully you will get some answers soon.
Good luck x

Thank you for your reply, the rash looks purple like a love bite that's the best way to explain he gets them on back arms legs, when he gets rash he hurts all over legs arms back stomache cramps tired pale no energy. But when no rash he looks alot better and does not hurt.

It sounds like HSP... but I would have thought they’d have diagnosed that if it was.... worth looking into though and seeing if you think it matches up to his symptoms.

My son had leukaemia but only ever had a rash when he was in treatment and needed platelets. Before he was diagnosed he was very very lethargic but sparodically, fine one day, not moving the next.

He patted his chest a lot (he was non verbal at the time) and I was told that's because something swells there internally - can't remember what.

He only had one tiny nosebleed and only slight bruising.

He was diagnosed after a blood test then a lumbar puncture to confirm.

I hope they find out what's wrong with your son soon. Take care.
