Hi, so these spots/rash has been on my daughters face for around 2 months now. I've taken her to the GP twice who both times said it could be impetigo or a cold sore. I have been given 2 different creams to apply to her face which haven't worked.

The sore has not wept at all since it's been there and hasn't caused her any bother at all (no itching or complaining of pain) it seems to start to look better then it flares up again for example one morning it may look slightly better and less red and the next it'll look as shown in the photo.😩

I haven't used any new creams, body washes or washing powders.

Any advice or anyone who has had something similar with there little one please help x

Looks like ringworm.

Hmm I'm not sure isn't ring worm fungal. She's been given anti fungal cream which hasn't touched it. It's more like spots and a rash.

If it was impetigo it would spread and be terribly itchy. It doesn't look like a cold sore either. Has the GP not taken a swab?

tiredanddangerous · 16/03/2020 10:51

How old is she? It looks like the rash dd1 used to get on her chin when she was a baby/toddler and dribbled a lot.

ThePlantsitter · 16/03/2020 10:53

If it's impetigo it would have responded to antibiotic cream which is I hope what the doc gave you first off as it's v infectious. Doesn't look like it to me though (NOT a medical professional just someone whose kid used to get impetigo a lot).

I'd be trying eczema treatment of the other stuff hasn't worked. Loads of e45 etc.

My DD is just getting over impertigo, she had it start last Tuesday and it weeped and went crusty, started antibiotic cream on Thursday and it's now almost gone.
It looked nothing like this.

Have you tried good old sudocrem? I'd try putting that on twice a day if I were you. Magic stuff!

p3achnation · 16/03/2020 13:07

Hi thanks for all of your replies. My daughter is, she's never had any kind of problems with her skin before so it's just strange and because it's on her face it looks awful.

Like I say it's not causing her any bother. I've tried sudocrem that does seem to dry it out but it just flares up again.

With all of this over the coronavirus I don't really want to take her back to the doctors at the moment xx
