DD, 15 i have noticed recently is looking very pale, which is kind of questionable as her dad is from the Middle East. Now she’s not necessarily dark skinned but usually has colour to her, like a tanned appearance iukwim. I know during winter she can look fairer, but just recently I’ve seen her looking very pale, like myself.

I am susceptible to anaemia, I have until recently been anaemic with my ferritin levels at zero. I’ve managed to get them up again. One of the side affects from me being anaemic was and still is a bit, shortness of breath which dd has mentioned herself.

Would I be unreasonable to take her to see our gp & ask for bloods to be taken just to check her iron levels? She’s otherwise seemingly fit & healthy, she eats well, has a good appetite. She says she’s not tired as such but I think that’s just because she tries to push for a later bedtime! She has no problem getting up in the mornings for school & I can’t see any ‘fatigue’ signs in her.

Hi you could try talking to the nurse at your doctors practice. They are usually quite helpful
