Achy testicles DS2 age 13

DS2 came home from school today complaining that his balls ache.

Have been like that for the past 6 hours.

Also aching around the hip area.

Tried to call 111 for advice but too busy for obvious reasons.

Any got an inkling as to what it might be?

Is there any swelling? Lumps or bumps?
Any trauma ? Punched or kicked etc?

Try hot bath might help and pain relief.

Could be an infection, torsion, referred pain for his belly

He had none of,the things you mentioned.

Good news! Might be worth keep an eye on it and maybe GP if it comes back.

Keep an eye. You can loose the testicle if it’s torsion.

My son had this he had to go to a&e be fast tracked in had one doctor two surgeons and a consultant yanking him around and they decided it wasnt a torsion and we could go home

I've not heard of a torsion??

It’s where the restocked gets twisted and it dies very quickly.

Was he wearing underwear that was too tight/too small?

You need to go to A&E it could be a twisted testicle or an infection. The A&E doctors operated on DS and it was a very nasty infection which they cleared in surgery as it was causing dreadful pain and fever but they said it could have been a twisted testicle and it would have died (the testicle) in 6 hours. I had to sign consent form saying he could have it removed if necessary.

DS must have been in a lot of pain as he us usually quite private but by the time the put him under he would have stood on the steps of the hospital and shown his testicles to the janitor.
