Coughing at night

My DS seems to have had a cough since starting nursery last year. It's worse at night and he's very unsettled and ends up cosleeping with me. I've tried honey and cough syrup. Any suggestions to help ease the cough?

Could it be reflux? My dd has a cough at night and I only knew it was reflux as I have silent reflux myself and a cough is the main symptom.
I would advise taking him the the gp if you can as you're not supposed to give them gaviscon unless a doctor advises it.
I usually give my daughter a gaviscon advance tablet as she was prescribed the advance bottle but doesn't get on with the liquid form.

This is obviously without assuming it's asthma.

He had reflux as a baby.. I thought he had grown out of it. He just always seems poorly. The Dr told me it was caused by teething... not helpful! I was wondering asthma as he had bronchitis at a young age.
