Hi, DS two and a half years old has just been told he has glue ear and needs grommets. Long long wait on NHS, would like to know peoples experiences and cost (in London) of going privately? And experiences after op? Thanks

Ds has had 3 lots on the NHS. Are you sure there's a long wait for the operation?
There's a long wait for the initial consultation with ENT round here (about 6 months), but once they've said they need grommets ds' wait between being told that and getting them has been:
3 weeks, 2 days, 10 days.

We went private for my sons grommets and getting adenoids removed. Prior to getting the grommets we needed a hearing test to confirm the glue ear and this was 6 months. Luckily we have insurance so after initial consult with the ent surgeon he had his hearing test, follow up and surgery all within 1 month.

It doesn't matter the cost Id go private if you can afford it we are also waiting for speech therapy waiting lists 4 months again we've gone private.

Hi
Based on personal experience, I have a theory that Uric acid is the culprit for glue ear.
While you are waiting for NHS try giving your son “apple cider vinegar” to drink. I teaspoon well diluted once a day. Use the raw, unrefined type with “the mother”
This has worked for me in 3 weeks and it cannot do any harm to your baby
