Ear ache and conjunctivitis

Daughter (3) has cold at moment and the other night complained of ear ache. Next morning was gone but again today complained again. Vicks vapour stuff seems to fix it, so I'd assumed it was just congestion and inflation causing it

But tonight she's suddenly got discharge from one eye, which seems like conjunctivitis. Still has cold too.

I'm going to take her to doctors, but from memory when she was one and had conjunctivitis they tried to fob me off with the "it will get better in its own" line.

Should I be pushing for antibiotics?

Conjunctivitis does often get better on its own. Clean the eye with some cool boiled water, change pillows and wash hands. If it’s a virus antibiotics won’t do anything.

I thought I heard somewhere that if combined with earache it was likely bacterial?
