Chicken pox or allergic reaction!

winterwalks89 · 15/02/2020 23:28

So DD had a red Pimple on the back of her neck this afternoon. Then after her bath It had turned into a blister, another was beside it. I've checked her over and she has a few red spots on her body but I genuinely don't know if it's a allergic reaction to something or she has caught chicken pox? She has been off her food the last few days aswell
I was told by another mum at nursery the other day that it was doing the rounds. I've attached some images

TIA Smile

Looks exactly like DD did before she woke up with chickenpox.

justasking111 · 15/02/2020 23:46

Yep the pox, keep an eye on her. Do not give her ibuprofen, stick to calpol if she is really poorly. You may be lucky my eldest had it really badly, the little one only a few spots.

Summertimesummertime · 15/02/2020 23:54

@justasking111 I've just checked on her she doesn't seem to have anymore so if it is chicken hopefully she may not have many bless her . Our 1 year old has been so clingy and off his food aswell the last few days so it's probably only a matter of time before he catches it Shock
At least it's happened now though when she's on half term from nursery

Nogodsnomasters · 16/02/2020 08:50

Yes looks like the start of my son's chicken pox too. One evening there was 2 spots on neck, next morning there was around 6 spots, by that very afternoon about 20, they spread quite quickly after the first day so you will definitely know by later today.

Summertimesummertime · 16/02/2020 09:17

@Nogodsnomasters yes she has a few more this morning I'm 90% sure now it is chicken pox !
Dh is going to the chemist at 10am when it opens for chamomile.
Our 1 year old hasn't got any yet maybe it will pass him !

Bumpinthenight · 16/02/2020 09:24

I'd recommend PoxClin over calamine lotion. It is a mousse that doesn't dry out the spots and make them itch like calamine does.

A bath of oats is soothing too - put the oats in the leg of some tights to make cleaning up easier!

Summertimesummertime · 16/02/2020 09:24

More this morning

Summertimesummertime · 16/02/2020 09:25

@Bumpinthenight she had a pay bath this morning and wasn't impressed, she was aging mammy this isn't a bath bomb Shock is it the chicken pox relief cooling gel ? That's what dh is going out to get

Summertimesummertime · 16/02/2020 09:26

Sorry that was meant to say oat bath this morning and she wasn't impressed

Excitedforxmas · 16/02/2020 09:47

Aww bless her. Calamine with aquaous is great as is bicarbonate of soda in the bath. Plenty of Piriton if she’s itchy and hopefully you’ll sail through it.

Bumpinthenight · 16/02/2020 10:41

@Summertimesummertime

This is what we used.

Bless her, an oat bath is definitely not a bath bomb!

Nogodsnomasters · 16/02/2020 10:52

Yeah new pics definitely do convince of CP. I recommend a gel called virasooth, camomile is so crap these days. Months after my son had them I tried the virasooth on my own chronic hives and my god the relief from the itching was unreal so can completely say it works.

Summertimesummertime · 16/02/2020 11:46

Dh has been to pharmacy and the pharmacist has said it's definatley chicken pox .
She's feeling a bit miserable now lying on the sofa watching a Disney film & very quiet .dh got her some new pyjamas & slippers also some virasoothe.
She went to the loo & was saying she was sore so I had a look and they are all over her girls bitsSad Ile keep a close eye on those ones !
But they are spreading quite quickly !

Our one year old is being a bit of a handful aswell, screaming and crying when I leave the room, put him down on the floor, standing at the baby gate crying while I wash up . So I've got him lay across my lap getting a head tickle and dd trying to make room for her to squeeze in aswel but he is having none of it!
If he's going to get them I hope they hurry up and come out !

Summertimesummertime · 18/02/2020 09:59

Hi everyone just a quick question , how long did you children's spots keep appearing ? She's still got new ones popping up now !

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives · 18/02/2020 10:06

My DD came out with them on New Year’s Day, it took about a week for all the spots to appear. She had it quite badly and had loads round her genitals too.
Virasoothe really helped, as did bicarb of soda and classic head and shoulders in the bath. Seemed to dry them out and help the itching.

Hope she feels better soon!
