6yr old broken collar bone

My 6yr old broke her collar bone falling of the edge of the sofa - not sure how.

It's been x-ray and we've been given a splint. The NHS authority in our area has a new policy where these breaks are not automatically referred for further treatment.

Anyone experienced in these types of breaks think this will heal by itself?

@Nowthereistwo
I am so sorry to hear about DD injury! And it is a very painful injury at that.
We've not had a collarbone break personally in our family but know plenty of friends who have gone through this...it's such a strange break that there isn't much they can do to fix it other than the splint...several have used arm slings to support the weight of the arm to help immobilise it. Also icing it and pain medication if she is in a lot of pain. The collar bone will heal in about 4- 6 weeks...sometimes with bit of a bump where the healing took place. If she goes to physio please make sure she does the exercises if they give her any to do at home otherwise her arm and shoulder will become very stiff.
She should be feeling better real soon BearFlowers

We have had a few collarbone breaks in our fam.
The poor injured person gets an arm sling and is very careful while it heals. Expect a funny lumpy bone on the spot where it heals which can last years.
Docs aren't really concerned about it other than that.

Thanks for the responses. It seems so weird to just sling it and give Calpol
