Nipple Buds - what age??

My 8.5 year old has suddenly developed a raised lump on her left breast. The right side is completely flat. It's not sore to touch and seems to have just appeared from no where! Could this be her breasts starting to develop? It sounds odd but I can't remember how old I was and how they formed and I don't want to make a big deal out of it if it's just normal. Any advice from parents of girls please!! Is this the start of it all?? I don't want her to be too early as she is already really tall for her age and her friends all seem so tiny. Is it just my baby growing up or should I be worried? Thanks! Smile

My 10 year old DD started 'budding' over the summer. However my niece isn't even 8 yet and she's started too.

My DD said she could feel hard lumps just behind her nipples. Frightened the life out of me at first as I don't remember anything like that, but a quick google (unusually!!) put my mind at rest.

It's hard to remember back but I think dd was about 9. It was around that age that I also noticed she was starting to have a waist and hips rather than being straight up and down.

@1066vegan yes!! My DD grew hips too at almost exactly the same time as the budding.
