Gas Leak

So I'm unsure if I am being paranoid but I have a 8 month baby in the house and grandad accidentally left the knob on the stove meaning it's been leaking gas for 2 hours maybe even more !!!! Our ranch slider was open however the smell is super strong. Baby is completely away from the area now.

1 . Should I be worried and if so what should I be doing?

  1. Is there any long term effects ?

Methane (cooking gas) isn't very toxic, unlike carbon monoxide. Since you've avoided a fire there isn't any ongoing risk.

Gas only has a scent to alert you to it’s presence. The smell has no risk. The risk would be fire. We recently had a gas leak for a week (new house and was a slow under floor leak) and we’ve had no lasting effects.

When dd was 3 months old the boiler man screwed up our boiler check so that every time the hot water was run gas leaked. She is now nearly 11 and no lasting effects

Thanks all who replied.

After my post he seemed fine and I got over it. I kept and eye on him for an hour and nothing seemed off

Went about our day pretty happily.
