Stomach pain after eating

For around the last month or so DD has regularly complained of stomach pain which comes after eating. She indicates it as a band that goes across her upper tummy. Not on, around or below belly button.

She was a bit run down over Xmas with a cough that has lasted weeks but is otherwise ok. Normal appetite, regular stools (4 yesterday!), no diarrhoea, sleeping well and eating healthily. No nausea or sickness and whilst she has the pain at home and at school she is able to do other things, not doubled over or crying in pain.

She is 7 by the way.

Any ideas?

I know it's a bit random but have you checked for thread worm? My DD had abdominal pain on and off for months, I even took her to the GP who tested for chronic appendicitis! She mentioned one day that she had been itchy, treated her for threadworm and thx tummy pain went too. So just a thought for you.

No itching and definitely not at night

Similar symptoms in my DD turned out to be coeliac disease.

What were the symptoms? I did wonder about coeliac but she has had no symptoms at all for past 7 years and now just some tummy pain. Which to be honest, doesn’t stop her eating or doing anything else.

That's what I mean, my DD hadn't had any itching either and the tummy pain was after every meal. I would never have considered threadworm but she'd had them for months before we figured it out.

Not to alarm you but my daughter was the same - no other symptoms other than stomach pain after meals. She was diagnosed with coeliac disease after GP took bloods. We weren't concerned, we'd just happened to mention it at an appointment for something else.

Hmm ok how did you treat the threadworm

There weren't many symptoms. Persistent stomach pain being the main thing. Looking back there were other signs including lack of concentration, flaking nails but I wouldn't have linked them at the time. She was diagnosed after a blood test.
