Hi everyone,

My DD is being tested for asthma due to family history/recurring wet cough. She'll be three in the spring. She's a smart cookie but I just cannot her her to use the peak flow the doctor gave us, properly. She puts her mouth round in and does the sharp blow but also leaves a gap so her mouth doesn't seal round them outs piece.

Any tips please? Smile

To be honest shes just too young to be able to understand and do the technique! Where I've worked we dont even try them until they're at least 5 but normally 7 before you get reliable readings.

Thanks @IwillrunIwillfly that was my feeling. Do you know what alternative tests they might use?

Too young! Even my 6 year old who's under the care of the hospital for her asthma has never been asked to do a peak flow.

They don't need to test. Just listen to chest, monitor respiratory rate and sats if seen during an attack, take account of history and observations from yourself, and keep a track of how they respond to different medications.
