Mole on sons head?

I have a red head 3 year old, I have noticed before he had a slight raised mole (I think it’s a mole) on the side of his head, it’s pinkish in colour and looks bumpy and raised, he had his hair cut this week and I noticed straight away that it has a black spot inside of it? On investigation it started to bleed? Almost looks like it could be a black head but he won’t let me near it to have a look.

Very worried Crown Confused

Could you get a picture? When did you first notice the mole - recently or has he always had it? Are there any other symptoms? Itchy? If it’s not causing him any trouble, I’d watch it for few days and see how it heals up. I’m surprised that my 4yo gets spots, so a blackhead is not impossible.

For some reason it won’t allow me to post a picture (said new members can’t post pictures straight away)

No it doesn’t bother him or is it itchy, he’s had it for a year or so, we only notice it so much when he’s had his hair cut and the reason I’ve spotted it to be different was because of the black mark in the middle of it.

Hmmm. I’m not a doctor and I’ve not seen it so am not in a position to offer much advice. Have you been able to ask someone in real life for their opinion? OH? Nursery staff? Another Mum? They will be able to give a more meaningful assessment than me. Would I get it checked out based on what you’ve said here? You say you’re worried about it, so yes it’s probably worth it just to put your mind at rest. I’d see how it is on Monday then decide. Good luck!

I would go to a pharmacist, also keep photos of it so you can see if it changes.

I just asked DH what advice he’d give to you, and he said he’d just go and get it investigated. It’s more likely than not to be nothing serious but no harm in getting it checked out. All the best OP!

Could he have simply scratched it, or it was caught when he was having hair cut? Is black bit just stone scabbing? If not, I'd show GP. Moles can look scary and still be perfectly fine, but worth getting it checked if it looks different

Took him doctors today, doctor looked at it with a light and says it looks ok and the black could be blood underneath the mole, just to keep an eye on it and any changes to go back
