Hi,

I'm besides myself with worry! My nan came here yesterday and was kissing my 9 week old on the face but not the lips. Today she has come up with a cold sore! I'm totally freaking out as obviously I have read so many horror stories. I have rang 111 and they have advised me to keep an eye on him for the next 8-12 days. I feel sick and can't stop crying! Does anybody have any advice xx

Please dont panic. I assume you have washed his face yesterday.? Dont read horror stories. There are different herpes viruses . Ignore dr google

Try not to worry OP, your Nan didn’t have the cold sore when she kissed baby, just keep an eye on him, hoping all will be well.

Try not to worry. I get coldsores and totally understand being desperate for the kids not to get them. Coldsores spring up really quickly. If it's only come up today then it should be fine. I'm sure your nan would recognise the tingle before the sore appears and not kiss from the point of feeling that, so all was probably fine yesterday.

I did bath hun about an hour later. He is breastfed not sure if that will help. So worrying x

Don't stress too much about it, babies pick up on our moods.

Breastfeeding helps all ailments from what I can gather! It's quite magical. If he had a bath almost straight away too, just be vigilant and don't be afraid to seek medical attention.

Thanks for your comments. I guess you read so many horrible things online and it really scares you. So far he is fine I'm hoping everything will be ok x
