DS not wanting milk

My DS who is almost 8 months old has stopped wanting milk in the morning. He had breakfast this morning and usually he will want a bottle some point soon after.

However the past few days he's not been having a bottle at all in the morning.

I'm worried he isn't getting enough, is this to be expected at this age?

He's my first so I haven't really got a clue!

Does he have a feed when he wakes up?
What was breakfast - give him some porridge made with milk instead of a feed.
When is he having milk during the rest of the day?

@Seeline He usually has porridge mixed in with a bit of his milk and then he has the remainder of the bottle which is about 5oz.

I've ran out of porridge though, so this morning he had a Heinz baby fruity yogurt

Usually he has a bottle in the afternoon, one at tea time and then one before he goes to bed

@Seeline I would have expected him to want a bottle seeing as he only had a yogurt this morning but he hasn't seemed like he's wanted one

Could you not give him the milk before the breakfast?

imdoingthisagain · 15/12/2019 12:04

@3boysandabump when I try this he spits up quite a bit of milk shortly after having the bottle. It's helped a lot to eat a bit first and then have the milk.

He seems absolutely fine in himself, he's laughing and smiling and he has had wet and dirty nappies.

Oh I see. As long as he's having plenty of dairy I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe try giving him the milk in a beaker alongside his breakfast?

My 9 month old did exactly the same thing today

He had a breastfeed at 5am, then I did weetabix for breakfast made with normal milk, he ate about half (he usually wolfs it down and has half a banana)

When I went to put him down for his morning nap he point blank refused the boob and went to sleep without it.

He has been refusing it before his morning nap the last week or so, but occasionally taking it before his lunchtime nap. Still has a breastfeed before bed and 3 times in the night (he won't leave it alone in the night! 😤)

I think he's slowly self regulating as he continues to eat more food. But he does have a 'healthy' appetite 🙈
