What meds for Year 7?

DS is in Year 7, just turned 12 and just come down with winter lurgy. Up until now we've always just done Calpol, child Nurofen etc, but it's just occurred to me that he can probably have grown up medicines now. But all I've got is Lemsip Max which says 16+. So - just wondering if people generally stay on the Calpol at this age or, if you graduate up to adult meds, which ones you use?

Some cold remedies are 12+, I managed to find Beechams flu tablets for my 14 year old.

You can just give generic paracetamol tablets at the appropriate dose nhs guidelines
