Head MRI results

Hi
Ds had an mri for suspected brain tumour a few weeks ago. We have had the follow up with the neuro pushed forward by 2 weeks (without asking for it to be) and a CT scan booked in a week after that even though the neuro never mentioned anything about a CT at the first appointment before mri referral. I have called out GP and been told that the results are in but my GP has to review them and when I asked why ds needs a CT scan, the secretary said that there was a note on the mri results that said “CT scan to exclude dissection”. It’s been driving me mad and the GP won’t tell me anything else so we’ve got to wait for Wednesday for any news. Does anyone know what this medical jargon means?

Dissection in this case could mean checking for problems in the aorta, which can produce neurological symptoms. It would extremely rare in children and sound like they just want to rule it out.

Why a GP is reviewing MRI results for a suspected brain tumour is beyond me. Aren't you under the care of a specialist?

When we had a scan our paediatrician called us before we even left the car park with an update. Seems odd GP is coming back. I'd guess it was probably clear from that but that's purely a guess. CT just to double check maybe?

Usually the clinician booking the test reviews them.
Sounds like it could be a CT Angiogram yo look at the arteries.
