Baby and cold sore

Hi.

I need some advice please.

I have a 7 week old DS. My SIL looked after him for 45 minutes yesterday while I did the school run. (The rain was terrible so it saved him going out in it).

My SIL has messaged me this morning to say she's woken up with what she thinks is a cold sore. I know she was cuddling and kissing DS, and now I'm panicking that he's going to be unwell.

When are cold sores contagious? Do I need to do anything? I've been trying to google, but the horror stories are scaring me.

Thank you

All you can do is keep a very close eye on him.
I get cold sores and have had plenty when my DC were babies (I get them when tired and run down which is obviously a common state when you have a newborn) and have managed never to pass one on to any of my DC, thankfully.
They are most contagious once the blister forms, but someone with the virus can actually pass it on at any time.
