Does anyone know of a London based Doctor that’s like those ones we see in viral vaccine videos? Those that make the experience not traumatic? I have a phobia from a childhood experience and now that my son is a year old I wanted to try to find someone better then my nhs nurse who almost appears to laugh when administering them. Happy to pay for vaccines and consult.

Afraid I don’t know of anyone but as I fellow nurse I’m embarrassed that was your experience, and sorry

It's relatively uncommon for vaccines to be delivered by Paediatricians in the UK as the vast majority done at GP - so it's possible the service you're hoping for will be hard to find.

I'm sure some doctors or nurses ARE really good at delivering vaccines non-upsettingly but remember that those videos are not necessarily a representative sample.

I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience in the past and that your current practice nurse has lost your confidence. We know that parental expectations and fears can have an impact on how children experience uncomfortable procedures. Would it be helpful for someone else to take your child to the appointment? Eg partner or another family member whom the child finds reassuring. It's very rare for children to have lasting bad memories of painful experiences at this age but it can be impossible to convince oneself of that in the moment.
