High temp- how long before seeing a doctor?

Dd has been poorly with a chesty cough for two weeks now and for the past 5 days has had a high temp. She’s fine in herself (mostly) but is really tough with a good tolerance for illness so that’s not to say she’s well!

She’s 9 so I’m not too worried about her but at what point is it neglectful not to get her checked out?!

@lewigi, umm a cough virus.

I hope she feels better soon. My dd has coughs go on for weeks and weeks.

Thanks cottonsock She’s snoozing on the sofa, her sleep hasn’t been great because she’s woken up lots due to coughing so it’s nice to see her resting.

I would see a doctor. Chesty cough, persistent high fevers and that resp rate in a 9 year old needing checking out, if only for reassurance. Definitely needs her chest looking at and someone to exclude any other causes of persistent fever. (Am a paediatrician).

We have seen a doctor, thank you. See my post above at 12.27.

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat how is she now?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 20/11/2019 09:30

She’s getting better thanks. Temp went away on Sunday and though she’s still coughing like a good ‘un she’s getting her appetite back and sleeping a bit better now.
