Tonsillitis (bacterial)- antibiotics not worked

Daughter had tonsillitis 2 wks ago. Antibiotics for 10 days.
White puss on tonsils went, temperature, chills, body aches all went.
Throat felt better for about 3 days but now tonsils are puss covered again (not as badly), her voice has gone and she has a headache.

We should go back for more antibiotics right??

Definitely! I've had tonsillitis a lot through my life and I know penicillin doesn't work for me, hasn't for the last 10 years, my dr always gives me amoxicillin. Last time I had tonsillitis I had a different doctor who refused to listen to this and prescribed penicillin and I ended up being admitted to hospital for 3 nights on IV antibiotics because it had got so bad, penicillin not touched.
Maybe asked GP if there's a diff antibiotic she could try? My DS doesn't have penicillin because it tastes so bitter I can't disguise it (he's only a baby but gets tonsillitis a lot) and the dr found another one good for tonsils, begins with an E but can't remember name.

Definitely go back. It needs logging as if she is a frequent sufferer it helps build a case towards taking them out. She probably needs a different or stronger dose of antibiotic. If she's struggling to swallow I found the really thick fresh supermarket milkshakes were good. It was the only fluids I could get down.

I once had a horrendous week bout of tonsillitis. Penicillin v for 5 days. Three days later back again and 10 days of amoxicillin. Four days later was prescribe co-amoxyclav which did the trick.

Ok thanks, I had it and still don’t feel great but she’s suffering a lot worse. I had it loads at her age but wasn’t sure if I was being precious and needed to leave it a few days.
Will call them tomorrow morning.
