Help! My 9month old LB is so poorly! He has gone 5 days with hardly any food has been having awful diarhea like water, im talking 25 times in a day. He is burnt and blistered but it wont stop! Saw the doctor on day 3 and have given some dyrolite drinks to try and keep him hydrated, but this is day 5 and if anything its getting worse, he is in pain with cramps and crying so much its heartbreaking! I tried him with dry toast but that made it so much worse, how much longer could this go on, it just started with him not wanting food which was so unlike him. Should i be worried?

The poor wee soul. I would phone 111 and most probably take him in to out of hours. Is he keeping the dioralyte down? If he's not able to stay hydrated you may need to get him admitted so he can be put on a drip.

Hi thank-you for the reply! Yes he is drinking the dioralyte down (new i spelt it wrong) its just going straight through him, he’s sleeping now so im going to monitor him over the next few hours, i have been watching for signs of dehydration and he seems ok, just wondering how long this could go on for is it normal? I have never had diarhea this bad for 6 days Confused x

That's good he's taking it and keeping it down. I think as long as he's staying hydrated it's probably not too much of a worry. Is he taking milk ok as well? Hopefully he's on the tail end of it but if you're still worried you could always phone 111 for advice or ask your GP surgery to get a doctor to call you to advise perhaps.,

I should note I have no medical knowledge at all, this is just my uninformed personal opinion!

Metanium nappy cream for his raw bum, it's yellow tube can get it in chemist's, absolutely best cream for it. Keep going with the diorlyte and small sips of water, not gulping. Is he still throwing up or has that end stopped? If it's his first ever stomach bug, his tummy is not used to this irritation and his immune system is not used to fighting this germ so it can seem to last longer for their first time with it.
