Flu jab shedding.

My daughter is immune suppressed. She has to have the dead flu vaccine as an injection. Her class, in fact school, are however having the live nasal vaccine. I’ve been told by my doc surgery nurse that dd should stay away from them due to shedding. When asked how long, she said they shed for 4-10 days so play safe with 10 days.

Each year I’ve been given different advice.

Can anyone fill in the gaps for me and advise??

Surely if your DD has already had the 'dead' vaccine she will be protected from catching anything shed by her classmates? I presume both vaccines are for the same strains of flu?

Make sure she has the jab before the school does? Then she will be protected from the strain that the school are using as it is the same.

I would keep her off school for the 10 days just to be safe.
The spray vaccine ( dd who has sn gets it and my 4 year old dd ) got my whole family sick for weeks and we’re not immune suppressed.

blackink that’s what I was thinking..her own flu vaccine on board should keep her safe from the other children having theirs.
