Hello,

My dd fainting this morning while I was brushing her hair, first time it’s ever happened. Although she has complained about her arms hurting when I brush her hair.
Should I be worried about it? Or only if it keeps happening? Tia

That sounds odd - did you have her head at a strange angle?

Chase345 · 01/11/2019 06:46

No just head straight as normal. She seems to complain about her arms if it’s for a longer period of time. Yesterday I was doing plaits. She’s only 7. Very scary for her.

I'd be heading to the GP to be honest. ...

Went to the gp this morning and they’ve told me I’m worrying over everything and she’s fine 😬

Did they have any explanation for what happened?

TheCanyon · 01/11/2019 09:29

Hair grooming syncope.

boble1 · 01/11/2019 09:30

Hi, there is something called hair grooming syncope.

Vasovagal syncope. Scary but nothing to worry about

granadagirl · 01/11/2019 09:38

Wow ! What next
When your doing it next time
Sit her down, then she won’t get a phobia about it happening again

Chase345 · 01/11/2019 10:14

No explanation about what happened, just said to come back if it happens again and they’ll do tests. Thank you everyone. Sitting down doing her hair from now on then.

Just stumbled across this post and it's very interesting to know about the syncope, my DD is 9 and has for about a year or so said she feels hot and dizzy when I brush her hair, sometimes to the point I have to stop as she goes quite pale

MissClementine · 09/11/2019 22:11

I know 2 people who have fainted in hairdressers.
