Found a lump on toddlers head?

Feeling abit worried. Have just found a lump on the back left of my 2 year olds head. Feels kind of soft and about the size of a pea. She doesn’t like me touching it. Anyone had this before and know what it could be?

My toddler had one - for about a year and a half before it disappeared.

We were referred to paeds at the hospital. Iirc it was some sort of weird cyst, they did an ultrasound on it and said it wasn’t of normal presentation but was indeed a cyst. Nothing sinister at all.

The head has quite a few lymph nodes so it might just be fighting infection?

Sounds like it's probably a lymph node (see attached pic). They usually get noticeable if your child has recently had (or is coming down with) an infection. Nothing to worry about most if the time, but if it doesn't go away in a couple of weeks, get a GP to check it over. My kids used to have them all the time.

Sounds like a raised lymph node, expect a viral illness in about a weeks time.

Just checked again and it feels hard
She does have chicken pox at the moment. Could it be due to this do you think?

Yes - if she has chicken pox it's almost certainly a raised lymph node (if you feel around, you may find others too). It should go down as the CP clears up.

Definitely sounds like a lymph node. Hope she feels better soon x
