Wonky Jaw

My 8mo DD has started pulling her jaw to the side (like in the picture) and grinding her teeth. She used to only do it occasionally but has started doing it more frequently.

I'm probably worrying for nothing (PFB) but is this normal or do I need someone (doctor? dentist?) to have a look at her?

Mine did this too. They don't do it now (teens)

I initially thought this was a picture of your 8 month old! Grin

I'm glad it seems to be a common thing! I've managed to get a picture of her doing it, it just seems so extreme to me. The two bottom teeth you can see are her middle two so you can see how far she pulls her jaw.
Does anyone have any tips to stop the teeth grinding? The sound of it goes straight through me and she's been doing it constantly all day 😩

There is no way to stop the grinding, it may stop/start as new teeth erupt.
You don't need to take to see the dentist, it's very normal although not a nice sound.

This just reminded me that my son used to do this as a teething baby! I never paid much attention to it but now he's 5 he no longer does it. It's definitely teething related, they're trying to ease their discomfort. A cold damp face cloth to chew on should help stop the grinding.

I'll try to stop worrying then!
