Paranoid about secondary drowning!!

Took 8 week old DD swimming this morning. I spoke to a member of staff who suggested dunking her in the water, he told me to blow on her face to get her to hold her breath and dunk her, which I did, but she didn't hold her breath and came up coughing and quite upset. She calmed down within a minute and seems fine now, but I've been googling and read about secondary drowning and now I'm really worried she's just going to stop breathing in the night or something. I feel so bad, wish I'd never tried it now 😭 has anyone else ever had any experience of this and is this something I should be worrying about? any reassurance would be really appreciated right now, feel like the worst mum in the world 😩

OP there was a thread on here a while ago about this which had some helpful stuff, I'll see if I can find it. (Partly because I remember posting on it, possibly with links I've since lost!)

Dry Drowning

Here it is! It's short, but there's a good link to read I think, and me waffling about my daughter!

At that age if your really concerned please take her to get checked

My sons swim teacher said not to blow on their face anymore, you should keep eye contact with them and read them to make sure it's ok to dunk.

I think blowing can startle them and cause them to take a sharp breath in with the water but if you're worried get her checked out. I'm sure she is fine tho

thanks everyone, got her in the docs this morning just to get her checked and put my mind at rest!
