Paranoid about secondary drowning!!

I took 8 week old DD swimming this morning. One of the members of staff at the pool suggested dunking her in the water, he told me to blow on her face to get her to hold her breath and then dunk. So, I did what he said and DD clearly didn't hold her breath and came up coughing and spluttering, and was quite upset. Anyway, she calmed down literally within the minute and she seems fine now, but I've been googling and read about secondary drowning and now I'm really concerned that she's breathed in the water and she's going to just stop breathing in the night or something 😭 am I just being overly paranoid or is this something I should actually worry about? has anyone else had any experience of this? I feel so bad, wish I'd never dunked her in the first place now 😭

First of all, if you hadn't googled you'd never have heard of secondary drowning would you? I'm guessing that because I did the EXACT same thing when my ds was a baby and scared myself fucking witless after he face planted the bath and coughed/spluttered.

He was completely fine and is now 5 years old. Secondary drowning is of course a real thing but it's very very rare which is why most people have never even heard of it because it hardly ever happens. Try to put it out of your mind and by this time next week you will see she's fine and dandy and you can forget all about it. Xx
