Strange spot on thigh

Am going to try & attach a picture.
My 9 year old DS has come up in a spot in his thigh since Sunday. This afternoon he's come home from school & it looks like infection is tracking from it.
I've drawn round the redness. Do you think it warrants being seen or is there anything I should try first?

Thanks all. Got an urgent gp appointment & he's got a 7 day course of fluoxacillin. Thanks for the advice.

I had one on my back but more localised and though the GP did not say it I went back on the 7th day, ie the day the antibiotics finished and guess what, he gave me another course and it was all clear after that. I'm not a 100% sure but they say at times you need more than one course of meds and if that is the case, try to ensure there is no break
between the courses. Having said that, mine ws a bigger lump so hopefully, your DS may only need the one lot.
