Passing cold onto 4 month old

Since having DD I’ve had several colds-think I’m just run down but I’m so worried about passing it on to her. She’s no longer BF (stopped at 10 weeks). Any one have experience of keeping baby healthy when you’re not well? It is making me so panicked!

Not a lot you can do to prevent it really, the close proximity alone makes it incredibly likely that the germs will be transferred. DS is nearly 9 months now and has had quite a few colds, most of which he's passed on to me (and vice versa). He's been snuffly/sneezy and had a cough a few of those times, but has almost always remained his usual cheerful self throughout. The thing is, the common cold is such an incredibly prevalent virus in our society it'd be practically impossible to avoid exposure to it at some point and babies immune systems actually benefit from the experience of fighting off these relatively minor viruses, according to my GP. Try not to worry Smile

Just do what you can, so wash hands regularly, keep tissues out of grabbing distance etc, but as PP has said it's likely they will get it just through spending so much time together so closely. My DC were FF and recovered nice and quickly from colds, thankfully, there wasn't much difference in our baby groups between BF and FF in terms of catching stuff and recovery. I keep some snufflebabe vapour, saline drops and calpol plug in in the cupboard just in case!
