Broken?

So my daughter stubbed her toe this morning. No tears at all and went to school. Commented during the day apparently. When I collected her, she complained her toe hurt. When we got home we removed her shoe and sock and were greated with this.
Is it broken?! They don’t tend to do anything for broken toes do they?!

Broken?

Yes I’d say that’s broken based on it being similar bruising to my ds’s when he broke his toe. They neighbour strap it to the next toe which you can do at home.

TheFairyCaravan · 30/09/2019 20:28

It does look sore.

This might help.

Rivkka · 30/09/2019 20:29

Yes I would think so

redchocolatebutton · 30/09/2019 20:31

yes, looks broken.
it needs to be seen by a dr to see if it's just the toe that's affected.

FixTheBone · 30/09/2019 20:32

Could well be.

If the toe looks straight, it probably just needs neighbour strapping, if it doesnt move well, or, if it looks crooked it may be dislocated or need something doing.

If in any doubt, get it seen in the local minor injuries for an xray and they'll decide if an orthopaedic referral is warranted.

Go to a&e or a walk in minor injuries unit or your gp for a referral. No one can tell from a grainy picture on the internet if it's broken or bruised or torn etc. You need to see a medical professional in real life. Even if they do nothing ifor it it's always best to get these things checked out.
I work in radiology. I've seen many toes that look like that that aren't broken. I've seen many toes that look like that that are. The only way you will find out is to get an X-ray.

Ouch!!

SunnivaGunne · 30/09/2019 20:36

Not necessarily, my daughter's foot looked exactly like that after a dancing accident. We were convinced it was broken but the GP took one look and said Nah! Just bruised. Sure enough it went every colour of the rainbow but recovered perfectly.

BabyST · 30/09/2019 21:20

100% fractured! I'd say go to an urgent treatment centre or Walk in Centre for an X-Ray to just conform and for pain management
