Chronic stomach ache/nausea, could this be lactose intolerance or something else

DD (7yo) is continually complaining about feeling sick and having a sore tummy. This has been in and off for years. At one point we thought it could be anxiety about school (lots of school refusal) but it's weekends too. She doesn't want to go out because she feels sick. But then she's pretty perky at home, just doesn't want to do anything too active, although she is always on the go.
Last year she missed quite a bit of school as a result. School says she's sometimes complains about feeling sick but she is otherwise very happy and doing fine.
Any suggestions? I've wondered if it could be lactose intolerance, is this likely? I'm clutching at straws here trying to find a fix as it's really impacting her day to day. She's been tested for coeliac, but it's negative. GP mentioned abdominal migraines but that feels like a 'we don't know what the problem is so we will assume it's migraines'.
Any clues?

Where is the pain? That might help suggest what could be the cause

She says it's in the middle, around her belly button, but its not a specific spot. She says she feels like she's going to be sick.

Has she had an investigation like endoscopy (camera down)? Or any scans?

PickledLily · 30/09/2019 15:01

No, she hasn't. She's been tested for coeliac previously (came back negative).

Was the Coeliac test through bloods? As this gives an idea but for 100% conformation is done during an endoscopy. Any signs of hernia? If it's generally around her belly button what's her bowls like? Any constipation as that may sometimes be the cause? Feeling sick may also be gastric reflux or as suggested just general pain altho this doesn't really help you in terms of a diagnosis.

Yes it was bloods. No constipation, she's very regular. Reflux is a possibility, she had it when younger and sometimes at night seems to be a bit gurgly but I'm never sure if that's post nasal drip (she gets hay fever in the summer). She sometimes says she feels like she has sick in her throat. But I hadn't put that together with the sore stomach. I guess there's no real way of knowing.

Maybe try a belly message when it's sore that might help. There isn't really any way of knowing without investigation x hope it gets better

Thanks BabyST. Thanks I think we will go back to the GP and ask for some more investigations.
