Vomiting and phlegm

My DS is 18 months and has had vomiting problems since birth. He had some pre birth issues (IUGR baby) so underweight and he had terrible reflux for 6 months and threw up nearly all his milk feeds/had terrible wind. Even once he was on solids he kept throwing up a lot. We identified intolerances to fish and smoked food so cut those out as he clearly couldn't digest them. Since 12 months he has had two doses of Gaviscon a day, but at least a couple of times a week he will cough and cough once he's lying down in bed at night and then be sick all over himself Sadand it is horrible acidy phlegmy sick. He always seems to have a cough and be very phlegmy; not just when he has a cold.

Has anyone had similar with their toddler? Could it be asthma/food allergies/dairy allergy? We are finally seeing a consultant next week and wondering what to expect.
