6yo having toileting accidents

I'm hoping someone can help. My 6yo ds is having accidents. He's been toilet trained since 3ys.
He still wets the bed. We've been to the bed wetting clinic. He was put on pills that he had to take at bedtime which were to stop his kidneys producing urine. Even with a double dose that didn't work.
He never fully empties his bladder. I've no idea how to make him. He can be in and out if the toilet every 10 minutes for an hour. He's been checked twice for infection but he's fine.
He's now also began soiling himself in the day. Twice he's come home from school dirty. He just says he doesn't know he's done it. He's also done it at home. He says he doesn't know but he hides so I know he does.
I've no idea what to do next. I'm thinking a trip to the doctors but getting an appointment at out practice is near impossible 😒.
Any thought, help or advice appreciated.

Try the ERIC website and helpline or the bladder and bowel trust. My guess based on what you've described is that the problem is constipation/impaction - basically a mass of poo stuck in the bowel compressing the bladder (hence frequency of weeing). The soiling and not feeling the urge to poo is also very characteristic. You will need to push for a GP appointment as it will probably need high doses of a laxative like movicol under medical supervision to clear up - there are links to this on the ERIC site.

Thank you for the reply. That all makes sense. I'll try and get a doctors appointment ASAP

I was going to give same advice about ERIC, lots of helpful advice there.

6 is still very young. I'm surprised he was put on pills etc.. and been to a wetting clinic at that age. My DS was still in night time pull ups at 6 and I thought this was considered normal. We started lifting him as he nearer age 7, and after a couple of months of waking him gently and asking him to wee about 11pm, he was fine and we've only had a few accidents (maybe 5) since (he's nearly 8 now). He also occasionally does 'wet farts' in his pants and feels very embarrassed about this, but it's all very normal at this age for some kids

Ps. Though i do agree you should pop him along to the GP re: the pooing if it's full on number 2's and not train tracks or wet farts

My first thought was constipation too.

I also think it's really unusual for a 6 year old to be medicated for wetting at night. Night wetting is considered normal until later than that.
