DS 13 belly pain

My son has been almost crying in pain for about 2 hours with belly pain. He's saying it's around the belly button and straight down and across his belly like in line with his pyjama waste band both sides. Can't be his appendix there gone with a few years. He hasn't been sick yet but feels it. Any ideas what it could be. Just waiting on a call from 111. All I can think of is he ate late tonight. He says it comes in waves and is burning. Can also taste sick. Nothing like this has happened before. Help please

Not sure why you're waiting for 111 to be honest I'd have had him up a&e already.

Has he had a groin injury recently and maybe is too embarrassed to mention? Because could be a testicular torsion

Or Eaten a dodgy takeaway? But I think the above sounds more likely

Pain in waves sounds like food poisoning or an intolerance to something. I hope 111 can help you soon.

Stomach migraines? They are bloody horrible and painful and affect children especially.

Thank you, Sorry its been a long few days. DS was sent to hospital by the 111 Doctor. It did turn out to be a gastric ulcer in his belly. He had the camera down this morning.

Oh poor thing! How's he doing now? What do they think caused it? Rare so young

AOSmom · 21/09/2019 20:58

@Graphista He's doing okay now. They said they don't really know whats caused it? They have asked is he being bullied, under any stress or anything? The only thing they can suggest is its in the family. His Dad has sever reflux and they think DS now has it too.

They have done loads of tests and the results have come back. He has the ulcer and they have found Helicobacter pylori to which could have caused the ulcer to. He is still in hospital hopefully he will be out Monday or Tuesday. He didn't eat or drink anything since Monday as he is crying with the pain just under his ribs. Apparently thats where the ulcer is. He managed toast last night and again this morning so his team have said hopefully all going well he can be discharged home Monday or most likely Tuesday. He wasn't the biggest 13 year old to being with but now has lost so much weight.

Oh poor wee soul!

Glad he's been diagnosed though and can hopefully get right treatment.

My dd (18) has a disability and was quite ill a few years back with something similar (she's vulnerable to certain infections or more accurately certain body systems of hers are more vulnerable) she too is very slight and can ill afford to lose weight and lost over a stone in a week! Scary!

Take care of yourself too. Easy to forget ourselves when the kids are sick
