15 Year Old ongoin Testical Pain

My 15 yo son has been getting lots of pain in his groin and in his testicals. We have seen multiple GPs, had 3 ultrasounds, assesses in Surgical Assessment Unit at our local hospital and all tests have come back clear. We / GP where concerned it was intermittent torsion but has been ruled out. No trauma before this happened.

There's no pattern it can come during the night, at school or just sitting or lying in bed. He can have weeks of being pain free. He is still active playing football and other sports.

We have tried everything we can think of like to ease the pain like hot bath, hot water bottle, no bottom PJs at night, supported underwear and a pillow in between his legs st night. He also feels it each time for any change and to try ease it.

We have just informed the school and they have been really supportive while this is ongoing. When he's in bad pain you can see him trying to hold back the tears. So the school have said he can either see the school nurse for meds or just some quick rest from class until it passes.

Is there any other ideas we are at our wits end?

Could it be puberty and his body growing?

I was going to ask if he was going through puberty? A big positive is he is talking to you about it as well. Is there anything that starts this off? Toilet visit etc have you monitored that ?

Nope it can be anything. We have been keeping track of it. Such as simply sitting at his desk in school, in bed in the car it's like anything. He started puberty I think he says since he was about 13-14. Yes thankfully he's not embarrassed by it like I say he now just wants to be bear bottom half when in pain and covered by a blanket. When it's been bad he's asked us to check for swelling but it's always fine. Urine is fine no pain there and poo is fine too

Hernia? My DH has had a few hernia ops around the groin area and he described it as “grumbling” on and off for years. He was also a keen footballer, not sure if that’s a link.

My son is going through this at the moment. Very random but severe testicular pain. He's been examined by many doctors and has had an ultrasound which showed nothing. He now has to have painkillers on hand in school. I think it's might be linked to growing pains. I wonder what your thought are on this and if your son is now OK.
