Ear Cleaning

Not sure if I have posted in the right bit but just wondering what to do.
My baby is 7 weeks old and has wax in his ears. I'd rather not go poking around in his ear although I have seen baby cotton buds in the baby aisle. Some people say it's okay and some say don't.

If I leave it is he prone to an infection? Will it annoy him or will it somehow come out on its own?

Don't poke anything in his ears! It will come out on its own, and it's actually protective against infection so best you don't touch it.

When ds was young we did nothing besides give his outer ears and behind the ears a general wash during bath time. Now that he's 1 we put a tiny drop of olive oil in each ear after bath time and it's clearing up nicely. Maybe get advice from a professional. Smile

Don’t poke anything into his ears! It’s normal and healthy to have earwax. Normally it should sort of travel up the ear canal and eventually fall out, or you can wipe it away with a tissue, no need to go rooting around. Like PP said the wax is protective.

ENT says don't put anything smaller than your elbow in an ear.
