Rash that doesn't blanch

Hi
We've recently returned from holiday and noticed this morning my daughter has a rash on top of her back just below her shoulders, on both sides. It's like a purpley / red colour and it feels warm to the touch.
Just taking her to the walk in centre to have it looked at.
She doesn't have any other symptoms and feels well. She didn't even know it was there.
Has anyone else experienced the same with their kids?
We gave her a anti histamine this morning thinking it may be an allergic reaction to something but it's not made any difference.
Her neck doesn't hurt and she feels fine in herself.
Anyone experienced similar? Xx

Is it speckly? Like tiny little under the skin blood spots and does she have lots of unexplained bruising? My son had a non blanching rash and I rang 111, they sent me to A&E and they sent me to the children's ward, tests showed he has a blood clotting disorder where his platelets drop and his blood can't clot which is why he bruises and gets a rash. It's called ITP. Hope you get to the bottom of it

I'd say it's the first bit of your description, but no she doesn't have any unexplained bruising. She's just seen nurse and she's certain it's not meningitis, just waiting to see doctor xx

What treatment did your son have for IPT Bump? Was he hospitalised? How long did it take him to recover and does he take medication now?
Asking because my niece is undergoing tests for this xx

Post viral rash?

Bobojangles · 24/08/2019 20:36

My ds had a non blanching viral rash, just went away on its own and they weren't worried as it only appeared after the worst of the illness and high temp etc had passed. But we where advised to get it checked and the GP rang up a week later to see if he was ok

@mrssillysausage he is totally fine now, they did blood tests and that's showed up the low platelets. I think it went down as low as 7 (it's suppose to be 150 I think). We had to watch out for unexplained bruising, be careful with bumps to the head, he wasn't allowed to play contact sports while he has the rash. He was initially hospitalised but only until they found out what it was. He never needed any treatment luckily and the incidences are few and far between now (mostly when he gets run down or a virus). They say the younger they are the more likely they grow out of it. I hope your neice recovers well :)
