Toddler swallowing habit

My 2.5 year old seems to have developed a swallowing habit. It's very subtle, but when it's quiet I can hear him often swallowing when he's listening to a book or watching TV. The problem is it's leaving him bloated and very windy. Also concerned because I googled it and it's common in people with anxiety. He's incredibly advanced for his age in terms of speaking so I could ask him why he's doing it, but equally I don't want him to get a complex about it. Would I just leave it in the hope it's a phase?
